Tara Kinateder, CEPA®, joined Ferguson Wellman in 2017 and is a principal and portfolio manager. With more than 25 years of wealth management experience, Tara advises successful individuals, multigenerational families and business owners on preserving and transitioning wealth through thoughtful investment management and strategic planning. She is known for building enduring client relationships and helping families navigate significant financial decisions across generations. As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®), she brings specialized expertise in guiding business owners through the financial and personal complexities of business succession and liquidity events.
Beyond her client responsibilities, Tara contributes to the firm’s strategic growth through business development and office initiatives including buildout of the Bellevue and Portland offices.
Prior to joining Ferguson Wellman, she was the market leader and private client advisor in U.S. Trust's private bank and investment advisory service division. Tara previously served as a vice president with Alliance Bernstein Wealth Management in their wealth management and investment management divisions. Tara earned her B.A. from Brenau University.
Committed to strengthening the communities she serves, Tara is a trustee of the Portland Art Museum and Legacy Health Foundation and is a member of the Portland Business Journal Leadership Council. In 2020, she was recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of Portland's Women of Influence.
Tara and her husband, Edward, live in Lake Oswego, where they enjoy golf, the great outdoors and enjoying food and wine with friends and family.
