Steve is a portfolio manager with clients concentrated in Portland, Vancouver, Eugene and Medford.\r\n\r\nPrior to joining Ferguson Wellman, Steve was a regional director for the University of Oregon athletic department and a national director for the NCAA Volunteers for Youth. Raised in South Dakota, he earned his B.S. in economics from South Dakota State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Oregon. He is a member and past president of the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Portland.\r\n\r\nSteve has served as president or chairman for numerous community and nonprofit boards including the [University of Oregon Foundation](https://www.uofoundation.org/), [Portland Metro Chamber](https://portlandmetrochamber.com/), [Portland Golf Club](https://www.portlandgolfclub.com/) and[ Boys and Girls Club of Portland](https://bgcportland.org/), among others. Presently, he serves as trustee and chairman of the [University of Oregon’s](https://www.uoregon.edu/) governing board following his appointment by Governor Kate Brown in 2021. He was also named an Executive of the Year by the Portland Business Journal in 2026. \r\n\r\nSteve grew up in South Dakota but has been an Oregonian since 1985. He and his wife, Kasey, live in Lake Oswego and have three grown children.
