Ferguson Wellman Named One of “Top 100 Wealth Managers,”
Only Firm Headquartered in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. – August 10, 2011 – Ferguson Wellman Capital Management was ranked by AdvisorOne as one of the “Top 100 Wealth Managers” in the United States.

Ferguson Wellman was 28th on the list and was the only firm listed that is headquartered in Oregon. Reflecting Ferguson Wellman’s longevity, the firm was one of five on the list that that been established for more than 35 years.

“These national rankings might represent our firm’s stability and growth,” said Principal Mark Kralj. “But our most important indicator of success is the confidence and trust our clients have in us.” According to Philip Palaveev and Jonathan McQuade from Fusion Advisor Network (hired by AdvisorOne for the report), the 370 firms that participated had reached record levels of revenues, assets and productivity as of December 31, 2010. The respondents collectively manage $330 billion in assets under management, service 175,000 clients and employ 6,780 people.

Founded in 1975, Ferguson Wellman Capital Management is a privately owned investment advisory firm, established in the Pacific Northwest. With more than 560 clients, the firm manages $2.95 billion in assets that comprise union and corporate retirement plans; endowments and foundations; and individuals (as of 6/30/11). Ferguson Wellman’s minimum account size is $2 million.

AdvisorOne solicited RIA firms who self-identified as wealth managers to provide us with details on their firms, and have created a  database that allows a reader to view all the Top Wealth Manager survey participants by total assets under management, along with various other measures, including average AUM per client.

AdvisorOne enlisted the professional expertise of Philip Palaveev and his colleagues at Fusion Advisor Network, particularly Jonathan McQuade, to analyze the Wealth Managers' data in aggregate (preserving each firm's anonymity on key metrics such as revenue and profitability) to analyze that data to help all wealth management firms benefit by learning the key characteristics of the top firms.
